Dan Meyer has over 25 years of legal and investigative experience focused on federal employment, national security, and ethics law. He has built a reputation for helping service members, federal employees, and contractors defend their credentials, suitability, and security clearances, often in complex and sensitive cases.
Dan earned his Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and later obtained his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington. He also completed a National Security Studies Fellowship at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School, enhancing his expertise in handling high-stakes security matters.
Dan’s legal wins include successful security adjudications involving issues such as tax concerns, substance use, and past misconduct. He also represents intelligence community clients in both open and classified matters. His advocacy before the Merit Systems Protection Board often targets prohibited personnel practices and agency errors, securing reversals in high-impact federal employment cases.
Dan played a key role in shaping whistleblower protection across three presidential administrations. His work included defending clients against retaliation and helping establish the first Intelligence Community Whistleblowing & Source Protection program. He guided national security whistleblowers on cases ranging from intelligence failures to misconduct exposure.
Dan served as Executive Director for two major oversight entities within the intelligence community. He advised on whistleblower reprisal appeals under both Presidential Policy Directive 19 and Intelligence Community Directive 120. His leadership helped protect the rights of classified information holders who disclosed wrongdoing.
Dan previously led whistleblower investigations at the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General. He oversaw probes into major issues, including post-9/11 security failures, misuse of polygraphs, and mistreatment of military personnel. Earlier, he was General Counsel for a public-interest group focused on environmental accountability.
Dan Meyer continues to serve clients with deep legal insight and strategic advocacy in highly sensitive and regulated areas. His legacy includes landmark cases, expert authorship in whistleblower policy, and a track record of defending those who serve the public and protect national interests.
