About

Courtland Kristoferson is a dedicated North Texas attorney focusing on probate, trust, fiduciary, and guardianship matters. He brings a clear, practical, and client-focused approach to resolving complex issues in probate courts across the region. His work includes managing estate and trust administrations, guiding families through guardianship proceedings, and representing clients in will contests, trust disputes, fiduciary liability claims, and related civil matters. He is known for providing steady guidance during stressful situations and helping clients understand each step of the legal process.

Courtland graduated with a degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. He later received his law degree from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, where he was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient. During law school, he also served as a founding member of the Van Sickle Family Law Clinic, providing pro bono legal services to community members in need of family law support.

Courtland has a legal career that began with clerkships at Shanklin & Cox and The Chenault Law Firm. These experiences helped shape his belief that strong representation requires more than legal knowledge—it requires understanding each client’s goals, concerns, and unique circumstances. As an attorney at The Chenault Law Firm, he continues to follow this philosophy by offering thoughtful counsel and personalized strategies. He assists clients with probate litigation, contested estates, trust disputes, and guardianship matters, as well as real estate, estate planning, and general civil litigation.

Courtland Kristoferson has been appointed by Texas Probate Courts to serve in essential roles in complex proceedings, in addition to serving private clients. His appointments include serving as a Court-appointed Trustee, a Guardian of the Person and Estate, and an Administrator in multiple contested estates. These assignments reflect the courts’ confidence in his skill, judgment, and professionalism. He is admitted to the State Bar of Texas and is active in the Denton County Bar Association and the State Bar’s Real Estate, Probate, and Trust Section.
