Chuck C. Choi is a highly respected Honolulu attorney with decades of experience in bankruptcy, creditor workouts, and commercial disputes. He has represented both businesses and individuals in complex restructuring matters, including chapters 7, 11, and 13. His notable successes include confirming reorganization plans in In re Pomare, Ltd. (dba Hilo Hattie) and In re Azabu, Inc., the Japanese corporation that owned the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa.

Mr. Choi earned his J.D., cum laude, from Southwestern University School of Law in 1988, where he was Research Editor of the Southwestern University Law Review and recipient of multiple American Jurisprudence Awards. He also interned for the Honorable Robert Boochever of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Before law school, he earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Hawai‘i. He began his career in Los Angeles, where he practiced from 1988 to 1995 in the corporate reorganization groups of two national law firms before returning to Hawai‘i to continue his career.

Throughout his practice, Mr. Choi has been consistently recognized for his skill and professionalism. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Best Lawyers in Hawai‘i by Honolulu Magazine and has been ranked in Chambers & Partners among leading firms and individuals. He also holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Beyond his legal practice, he has served as Vice President and Director of the Bankruptcy Law Section of the Hawai‘i State Bar Association and is a mediator on the Bankruptcy Dispute Resolution Panel.

Committed to public service, Chuck C. Choi is a recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services from the State Bar of California and continues to volunteer with Volunteer Legal Services Hawai‘i. He is also a past president and director of the Korean American Bar Association of Hawai‘i, reflecting his dedication to advancing both the profession and his community.
