Chad Hansen is a Maine employment attorney who represents employees in workplace disputes across the state. His practice focuses on disability discrimination, age discrimination, religious discrimination, sex discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, sexual harassment, medical leave violations, and failure to accommodate claims. He has both first-chaired and second-chaired cases to successful jury verdicts. Chad is dedicated to protecting employee rights and holding employers accountable under state and federal law.
Chad earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law. He received his B.A. from Luther College. After law school, he worked with the National Organization for Women’s National Judicial Education Program, helping educate the judiciary about issues involving sexual assault and domestic violence. He later served as a staff attorney at Disability Rights Maine, focusing on disability discrimination in employment, public accommodation, and education.
Throughout his career, Chad has secured significant results for clients. In 2021, he first chaired a federal failure to accommodate trial in Bangor and obtained an $867,000 jury verdict, including substantial punitive damages. In 2024, he helped obtain a verdict exceeding $360,000 in an age discrimination case in federal court. In 2025, he secured an arbitration award of more than $650,000 in a disability discrimination matter.
Chad Hansen is a former President of the Board of Directors of Disability Rights Maine and remains active in the legal community. He has also served as an attorney coach for a championship mock trial team. Recognized by peer review organizations for his legal skills and professionalism, Chad continues to advocate for fair treatment and equal opportunity in the workplace.
