Caitlin Cervenka

Caitlin Cervenka is an associate attorney at O’Connor & Thomas, P.C., with a general practice focused on civil rights law, labor and employment, family law, criminal law, and estate planning. Her legal background includes direct service to people facing serious legal and personal challenges. She has worked with clients in court, public interest settings, and community-based programs. Caitlin earned her undergraduate degree from Marquette University, graduating cum laude. She later earned her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. Her education gave her a strong base in legal research, writing, advocacy, and client service. During and after her studies, she built skills that support clear communication, careful case preparation, and steady guidance for clients facing stressful legal issues in several practice areas.

Caitlin began her public service work with AmeriCorps, where she provided legal assistance to migrant farmworkers in Texas and Washington. She then worked in legal aid in Chicago, representing survivors of gender-based violence in civil and criminal proceedings. Her work included employment matters, domestic relations, and victims’ rights. Through these roles, she helped people understand legal options, protect their rights, and move through difficult court processes with informed support.

Caitlin Cervenka also completed a two-year judicial clerkship with the Iowa District Court in Dubuque, gaining insight into court procedure, case management, and judicial decision-making. She is proficient in Spanish and has represented many clients with limited English proficiency. Her memberships include county, state, and national bar associations.
