About

Benjamin M. Schneider is an eminent domain attorney at Miller, Miller & Canby who works within the firm’s Eminent Domain and Litigation practice groups. His current practice includes eminent domain and condemnation, business and commercial litigation, and real estate litigation. He represents property owners facing takings by state agencies, local governments, and utility companies and helps clients evaluate valuation issues, property rights, compensation, and litigation strategy throughout the condemnation process.

Benjamin earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He also earned a Master of City and Regional Planning and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed his undergraduate studies. His education combines law, planning, land use, and policy analysis. That background directly supports his work on eminent domain and real estate disputes involving property valuation, development potential, government projects, easements, and the practical effects of public acquisitions.

Benjamin previously served as a trial attorney with the US Department of Justice, litigating eminent domain cases in federal district courts across the country for federal agencies. Earlier, he worked at a Washington, DC firm on civil litigation, white-collar investigations, and congressional subpoenas. He also clerked for US District Judge Peter J. Messitte and worked as a city planner for the US Department of the Navy before law school.

Benjamin M. Schneider is admitted in Maryland and the District of Columbia and before the US District Court for Maryland and the Fourth Circuit. His practice combines condemnation litigation, commercial disputes, real estate litigation, federal trial experience, and professional planning knowledge. He represents homeowners, businesses, institutions, and other property owners confronting government or utility takings, helping them assess evidence, valuation, legal rights, negotiation options, and trial strategy when compensation is disputed.
