Arnold J. Lizana III is a seasoned attorney recognized for his leadership in employment law, higher education compliance, and civil rights advocacy. With a career spanning courtroom litigation, academic instruction, and organizational leadership, he has consistently advanced fairness and equity while guiding institutions and individuals through complex legal challenges.

Arnold began his academic journey at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he earned his B.A., and later completed his J.D. at Suffolk University Law School. His educational background laid the foundation for a career dedicated to law, justice, and the advancement of equal opportunity in both employment and education.

Arnold first contributed to the legal field as a Law Clerk for the Massachusetts Trial Court, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, and the Civil Rights Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. He then spent more than ten years as a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where he litigated employment discrimination cases and secured multimillion-dollar settlements for victims. His litigation work also played a role in shaping sexual harassment law within the Second Circuit.

Arnold later served as Associate Vice President for Diversity and Equity at UCONN HEALTH, where he managed affirmative action reporting, EEO compliance, diversity training, and oversight of Title IX and ADA programs. He directed compliance efforts for the medical school, teaching hospital, and specialized health programs, ensuring that equity principles guided organizational practices. His contributions strengthened institutional accountability and created safer, more inclusive workplaces and educational environments.

Arnold has also devoted significant time to teaching, serving as an Adjunct Professor at Western New England University School of Law and Bay Path University’s Master’s program in Higher Education Administration. He has taught legal studies at Post University, the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, and Roxbury Community College. As a frequent speaker at professional conferences, he addresses employment law, discrimination, diversity management, and higher education compliance.

Arnold J. Lizana III continues to advance equity as a certified mediator, often resolving disputes for the EEOC and other organizations. His professional path reflects a commitment to justice, community engagement, and the protection of civil rights.
