About
Anita K. Bala has built her career advocating for clients in employment disputes, civil rights cases, and disability discrimination claims. She has represented individuals facing workplace issues involving race, sex, age, religion, national origin, and disability, while also handling Title IX claims involving sexual assault in schools and civil matters involving police misconduct. Many of her cases have drawn public attention due to their high-profile nature.
Anita began her academic journey earning a B.A. in International Studies from Emory University. She furthered her education by spending a year at the London School of Economics and Political Science, focusing on international history. She then obtained her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law. While there, she engaged in the Criminal Defense Clinic, wrote for the Educational Law and Policy Forum, and earned a public interest fellowship to pursue a summer criminal law internship in New York.
Anita started her legal career with the City of New York, where she prosecuted child abuse and neglect matters. After that role, she represented several school systems in the Atlanta area, defending them in employment discrimination, civil rights, whistleblower, tort, and disability-related claims under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Through a decade of defending public entities, she developed a strong commitment to helping those who needed access to justice but lacked the resources or voice to advocate for themselves. This dedication has defined her later practice.
Anita K. Bala continues to be recognized for her knowledge and client-focused advocacy, bringing compassionate guidance and effective representation to individuals navigating complex and often challenging legal issues. She is admitted to practice law in New York and Georgia, as well as before the Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Over the years, her work has been recognized with honors such as inclusion in Best Lawyers, Georgia Trend Legal Elite, and Super Lawyers. She is also AV-rated and an active member of the National Employment Lawyers Association.
