Amy M. Leonard has devoted her legal career to criminal law, representing clients facing charges ranging from nonviolent drug offenses and DUI to serious felony and federal crimes. She focuses on building strong defense strategies designed to protect her clients’ rights, freedom, and long-term futures.
Amy earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Economics from Santa Clara University before receiving her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1996. After completing law school, she gained practical experience through internships at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office and the Federal Public Defenders Office in San Diego.
Amy developed her courtroom and writing skills through years of hands-on legal work. She has extensive experience in criminal pre-trial matters, trial preparation, and appellate writing. Her background allows her to carefully analyze evidence, draft persuasive motions, and prepare strong arguments tailored to each client’s case.
Amy began her professional career as an associate attorney at a San Francisco-based plaintiff’s firm. In 2001, she moved to Phoenix, AZ, with her family and continued working at a plaintiff’s firm before being admitted to the Arizona State Bar in 2004. Her combined experience in different practice settings strengthens her approach to criminal defense.
Amy M. Leonard is a member of the Arizona State Bar and is licensed to practice law in Arizona and the U.S. District Court of Arizona. She is also admitted to the State Bar of California. Her admissions include the State Bar of California (1996), the State Bar of Arizona (2004), and the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona (2005).
