Alexander P. McLaughlin

Alexander P. McLaughlin is a partner at Givens Pursley in Boise, Idaho, and co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Group. His practice focuses on general and commercial litigation at the trial, appellate, and administrative levels, with additional work in creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. He represents clients in complex disputes involving contracts, business ownership, real property, lending, trade secrets, bankruptcy proceedings, and other commercial matters requiring strategic litigation and appellate advocacy.

McLaughlin earned a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Idaho, College of Law in 2008 and a B.S., magna cum laude, from the College of Idaho in 2004. He is admitted in Idaho, the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, and the Ninth Circuit. His education and admissions support a practice that regularly spans state trial courts, federal district and bankruptcy courts, and appellate courts addressing complex commercial and procedural questions.

McLaughlin has appeared before the Idaho Supreme Court, Idaho Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, federal district court, and federal bankruptcy court. His representative matters include contract and real estate disputes, bankruptcy appeals, lender and creditor actions, non-compete and trade secret cases, annexation disputes, and commercial claims involving national and regional businesses. His experience includes both defending claims and pursuing remedies for businesses, financial institutions, property owners, and other clients.
