About

Zoë Grenfell is an associate attorney at Dalton & Tomich, where she concentrates her practice on religious land use, denominational trust law, and complex zoning matters. She provides legal support to religious organizations, nonprofits, and property owners facing land use and property-related challenges, especially in the context of religious liberty and institutional property rights.

Zoë earned her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 2021. She received a majority-tuition scholarship based on academic achievement. During law school, she participated in Moot Court and served as an oralist on the Jessup International Law Team. She also contributed as a reviewing editor for the Journal of Law in Society and gained hands-on legal experience as a student attorney with the Free Legal Aid Clinic.

Zoë’s undergraduate studies in sociology at the University of Michigan–Dearborn included original research on religious disaffiliation among millennials and participation in the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program at Macomb Correctional Facility. These experiences enhanced her understanding of institutional systems and their social impact—insights that inform her legal work today.

Before joining Dalton & Tomich, Zoë worked at a Detroit-area law firm where she handled insurance defense and commercial litigation. This background developed her litigation skills and strengthened her ability to manage a diverse range of legal disputes with precision and professionalism.

Zoë Grenfell brings a strong combination of research, advocacy, and litigation experience to her role at Dalton & Tomich. Her focus on land use and religious property law enables her to guide clients through complex legal frameworks while protecting their mission, property, and rights. She is committed to delivering thoughtful, client-centered legal solutions that align with the firm’s mission of serving faith-based and community-focused organizations.
