About
Zachary L. Shiffler is a dedicated civil rights attorney who fights for people whose constitutional rights have been violated by police or government officials. He handles cases involving excessive force, wrongful arrest, and other forms of government abuse. His work focuses on legal claims under the First, Fourth, and Eighth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. These include retaliation for free speech, unlawful searches and seizures, and cruel and unusual punishment in detention settings.
Zachary earned his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He also holds a B.A. in Government and Philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin.
Zachary began his legal career with the Civil Rights Litigation Group as a law clerk while still in school. That early experience confirmed his passion for civil rights law and helping people stand up against public officials who misuse their power. Since becoming a licensed attorney in Colorado in 2019, he has continued his work in this area and also gained experience in personal injury law.
Zachary is admitted to practice in Colorado state courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. He is active in professional organizations, including the Colorado Bar Association’s Civil Rights Committee and the Lawyers’ Civil Rights Coalition. He is also a published legal author, having co-written a law review article on individuals’ rights during police stops.
Zachary L. Shiffler provides his clients with honest advice, strong representation, and a clear path forward. He works hard to help people seek justice when their rights have been ignored or violated by those in power. He remains committed to making the justice system work for everyone through litigation and legal advocacy.
