Yovanna began her legal journey in Lima, Peru, where she earned her Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of Peru in 1989. She later advanced her education in the United States, receiving her Master of Laws from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2012. Her bilingual skills allow her to serve both English- and Spanish-speaking communities effectively.
Before practicing in the U.S., Yovanna worked in tax law, public policy, and international law for over 15 years. In 2005, she served as legal counsel for Peru’s State Modernization Program, supported by the Inter-American Development Bank. After emigrating to the U.S. in 2006, she began volunteering with the Child Support Division in Texas and worked as a personal injury paralegal.
In 2014, as humanitarian needs grew at the southern border, Yovanna actively supported women and unaccompanied minors from Central America. Her dedication earned her the Pro Bono Guardian award from the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She continues working with groups like Catholic Charities Dallas and the Human Rights Initiative.
Yovanna Vargas has represented individuals from more than 20 countries, handling cases involving asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile petitions, U visas, VAWA, and citizenship. Please Be Cautious – My Experience with Yovanna Vargas
I want to share my personal experience with Yovanna Vargas in the hope of helping others avoid the same situation. I paid her $2,000 in advance for immigration legal services. Unfortunately, after receiving the payment, she completely stopped responding and never provided the service she promised.
She seemed professional at first, but once the payment was made, the communication ended. I’ve tried reaching out many times with no response. It has been a frustrating and disappointing experience.
I’m now in the process of taking formal steps to report her conduct. I would strongly advise anyone thinking about working with her to be extremely cautious.
