Yahima Hernandez, ESQ., is an accomplished Florida attorney devoted to helping individuals and families overcome immigration challenges. With extensive experience spanning more than ten years, she has built her career around protecting immigrants’ rights and ensuring fair treatment for all. Her compassionate approach and dedication to community outreach have made her a trusted advocate for migrant workers and underserved families in need of legal support.

Yahima earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Louisville, graduating with honors. Following her undergraduate studies, she served at the Presbyterian Church National Offices, coordinating international volunteer missions focused on ending world hunger. Motivated by her desire to expand her impact, she relocated to Florida in 2003 to attend Stetson University College of Law. After completing her J.D., she was admitted to practice law by the Supreme Court of Florida, marking the beginning of her distinguished legal career.

Yahima has continuously championed immigrants’ rights and community empowerment throughout her professional journey. Her dedication to public service has been recognized through several distinctions, including the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award for her outstanding contributions to the community and the Civics Leadership Award by Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Class of 2016. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. From 2012 to 2014, she co-chaired the HCBA Immigration Section and later served on the Sheriff Hispanic Advisory Council of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office from 2014 to 2016.

Yahima Hernandez continues to be a steadfast advocate for immigrant families across Florida. Beyond her legal practice, she contributed as a columnist for La Gaceta newspaper between 2013 and 2016, focusing on immigration awareness and education. She also volunteers as a community speaker, dedicating her time to helping migrant workers understand their rights and access the legal protections they deserve.
