William K. VanCanagan

William K. VanCanagan is a seasoned attorney focusing on business transactions, real estate, land use, taxation, estate planning, and corporate law. With over four decades of experience, he helps business owners, investors, and individuals navigate legal complexities, structure deals, and protect their financial interests.

Mr. VanCanagan earned his B.A. in Economics from Stanford University before obtaining his law degree from the University of Montana. To further strengthen his taxation and business law expertise, he completed an LL.M. in Federal Taxation at Boston University in 1982. He has been admitted to practice in Montana and the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana (1981), the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Throughout his career, Mr. VanCanagan has delivered strategic business counsel to companies in manufacturing, technology, medical devices, finance, real estate, and recreational products. He advises entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), securities regulation, joint ventures, and venture capital transactions. His work includes managing complex private and public M&A deals as well as business securities financing transactions.
