B.C. Killough

B. C. Killough is a seasoned intellectual property and business attorney with over 40 years of experience counseling businesses, professionals, and entrepreneurs. His expertise spans patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, contracts, and commercial litigation. As a registered patent attorney, he has secured over 350 U.S. patents, prosecuted over 100 foreign patent applications, and filed over 1,500 trademark applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His international experience includes obtaining foreign trademark registrations and handling contested proceedings before the European Patent Office’s Opposition Division.

Mr. Killough holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, an MBA from the University of South Carolina, and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. His engineering, business, and law background provides him with unique insight into complex intellectual property and commercial matters. He has also contributed to legal education as an adjunct professor of patent law at the University of South Carolina School of Law.

As a trial lawyer, Mr. Killough litigates complex intellectual property disputes, unfair competition claims, and trade regulation matters in U.S. District Courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). He is a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and an active member of the Intellectual Property Institute, a national network of leading IP litigators.

In addition to litigation, Mr. Killough is a certified mediator by the South Carolina Supreme Court Arbitrator and Mediator Certification Board and a member of the International Academy of Alternative Dispute Resolution. He focuses his mediation practice on commercial disputes and intellectual property conflicts, working proactively to develop creative solutions for businesses.
