William G. Madsen is a partner at Madsen, Prestley & Parenteau, LLC, where he represents employees in labor and employment law disputes. He handles wrongful discharge, whistleblower retaliation, family and medical leave, disability accommodation, wage and hour, contract, and public policy claims. He also represents people facing discrimination based on age, race, sex, disability, or national origin. His practice includes related litigation in state and federal courts.

William earned his B.A. cum laude in philosophy and religion from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1985. He earned his M.A. in Religion from Yale Divinity School in 1987. He earned his J.D. cum laude from Vermont Law School in 1990, where he served as managing editor of the Vermont Law Review. He then clerked for Judge Conrad K. Cyr of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He is licensed in Connecticut and Maine and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

William began his private practice career at Day, Berry & Howard, where he represented employers in labor and employment matters. He practiced with Jackson, Lewis, Schnitzler & Krupman from 1994 to 1997 before opening his employee-side practice in 1997. He formed Madsen & Prestley, LLC with Peter B. Prestley in 1998. He helped establish the current firm in 2000 after Jacques J. Parenteau joined the partnership.

William G. Madsen brings his experience from both management-side and employee-side employment law to his advocacy. He was appointed a Special Master for the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut in 1999. He has written and lectured on noncompetition agreements, disability discrimination, wrongful discharge, and other workplace issues. His professional memberships include the Connecticut Bar Association and American Bar Association. He has also received recognition from Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers for his employment law work.
