William Bock, III

William Bock III is a partner at Kroger, Gardis & Regas, LLP in Indianapolis whose practice focuses on sports law and litigation, business disputes, municipal and election law, appellate matters, and employment law. He represents athletes, sports organizations, businesses, governmental agencies, and other clients in litigation, arbitration, regulatory matters, and investigations. His sports practice includes athlete eligibility, anti-doping issues, Title IX matters, and disputes involving national and international sports organizations.

Bill earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 1989 and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Oral Roberts University in 1985. From 1990 to 1992, he clerked for then-U.S. District Judge John Daniel Tinder. He is admitted in Indiana and Colorado and before numerous federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. His education and judicial clerkship provided a strong foundation for a litigation practice involving complex statutory, constitutional, and regulatory issues.

Bill has appeared in more than 75 sports eligibility disputes before arbitration panels, including the American Arbitration Association and the Court of Arbitration for Sport. He served as General Counsel to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency from 2007 through 2020 and was lead counsel in major anti-doping investigations, including the Lance Armstrong matter and later proceedings involving the Nike Oregon Project. His broader litigation experience includes business, constitutional, regulatory, election, employment, and municipal disputes in trial and appellate courts.

William Bock III currently serves on the World Aquatics Integrity Unit Anti-Doping Advisory Body and previously served on the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions and the FINA Doping Panel. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers and Indiana Super Lawyers and received a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency 20-Year Service Award.
