About

Will Hellams brings a powerful combination of public service experience and legal advocacy to his practice. Based in South Carolina, he is a criminal defense and civil rights attorney who defends individuals facing charges, fights government overreach, and represents victims of negligence. His work is guided by fairness, respect, and an unrelenting pursuit of justice.

Will earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he co-founded the Magnolia Defenders, a student group supporting indigent defense. He served in student leadership as a Student Bar Association Senator and Dean’s Leadership Council member. His training includes hands-on civil rights litigation with the MacArthur Justice Clinic. He also holds a B.S. in Fire Science Management from American Military University.

Prior to practicing law, Will spent two decades in public safety. This background sharpened his understanding of how systemic inequities—like addiction, poverty, and institutional failure—often lead to criminal charges. These insights now inform his holistic legal approach, which views clients not as case numbers but as people navigating their toughest moments.

Will’s legal practice spans criminal defense in South Carolina state courts, civil rights litigation, and personal injury representation. He admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and holds active memberships in numerous professional associations, including the South Carolina Bar and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Attorney Will Hellams is known for honest communication, strategic litigation, and client-centered service. He keeps clients informed, empowers them with clarity, and builds strong legal strategies tailored to each situation. Whether negotiating pleas or taking cases to trial, he remains a tireless advocate for justice.
