Warren L. Dranit

Warren L. Dranit is a partner at Spaulding McCullough & Tansil LLP and one of Northern California’s leading intellectual property and technology attorneys. His practice focuses on protecting and licensing intellectual property assets, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets, and rights of publicity. A former software engineer, Warren also provides legal counsel on technology matters such as software development, e-commerce, internet law, and electronic communications, representing businesses in both transactional and litigation matters across multiple industries.

Warren earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he externed for the Honorable Armand Arabian of the California Supreme Court. He also holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science, both with Highest Honors, from Emory University. Before entering law, he spent seven years in the aerospace industry developing software technology, giving him a rare blend of technical and legal expertise that enhances his work in intellectual property and technology law.

An active leader in his field, Warren has chaired and advised numerous professional organizations. He is a former Chair and current advisor to the Executive Committee of the California State Bar’s Intellectual Property Section. He also founded and chaired the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Section of the Sonoma County Bar Association. He frequently presents at conferences, universities, and professional associations on topics including internet law, copyright, and technology innovation.

Warren L. Dranit’s commitment extends beyond his legal practice. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce and Mentor Me, and is active with the Petaluma Arts Center. He also founded the Petaluma Lawyers Club to foster collaboration among local attorneys. Licensed in California and multiple federal courts, Warren continues to advance intellectual property and technology law across the region.
