About
Chris has built a legal career centered on criminal defense, traffic violations, family law, and related legal matters. Before becoming an attorney, he worked as a teacher in Chesapeake Public Schools, an experience that strengthened his communication and problem-solving abilities. His background continues to help him guide clients through difficult legal situations with clear direction and steady representation.
Chris earned a B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary in 1991. He later received a Master’s degree in School Administration from Cambridge College before earning his J.D. from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach. While completing his legal education, he graduated with High Honors and developed strong courtroom and research skills.
Chris began gaining legal experience through internships with both the Commonwealth’s Attorney and Public Defender’s Office in the city of Suffolk. Those opportunities gave him direct exposure to courtroom procedures, legal preparation, and trial advocacy. His early work helped shape a balanced understanding of both prosecution and defense strategies within the Virginia legal system.
Chris later worked as a defense attorney with the Virginia Beach Public Defender’s Office, where he represented individuals facing serious legal concerns. His practice includes criminal defense, DUI defense, reckless driving, drug crimes, domestic violence matters, and white collar crimes. He also assists clients with family law issues involving child custody, support, protective orders, and divorce property division.
Chris remains active within the legal community through memberships in organizations such as the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Chesapeake Bar Association, Virginia Beach Bar Association, and the James Kent Inn of Court. He also served on the Virginia Access to Justice Commission – Pro Bono Service Honor Roll during 2022-2023 while continuing community involvement through Con Razon, Inc.
Christopher “Chris” Dunn continues to represent clients across a wide range of legal matters with dedication, preparation, and strong advocacy.
