Virginia M. Blumenthal, founding attorney of Blumenthal & Moore, is a nationally recognized criminal defense lawyer with five decades of experience. She has been named one of the Top 100 Trial Attorneys in America by the National Trial Lawyers and has led her firm to recognition as a Top Ranking Law Firm in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
Virginia earned her B.A. and M.A. from California State University, Northridge, before receiving her J.D. from California Southern Law School in Riverside in 1975. That same year, she broke barriers by opening the first woman-owned law firm in Inland Southern California. In 2019, she achieved a rare distinction for a trial attorney by successfully arguing before the California Supreme Court in People v. Aranda.sl
Over her storied career, Virginia has received numerous awards, including the Frank Miller Civic Achievement Award, the Civil Rights Law Giant Award from the NAACP Youth Council, and the James H. Krieger Meritorious Service Award from the Riverside County Bar Association. She has also been named Citizen of the Year, Woman of the Year by the California Legislature and honored for decades of service by civic, legal, and community organizations.
In addition to her courtroom success, Virginia has devoted significant time to public service. She is serving her fifth term on the Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees, where she has been President.
Virginia M. Blumenthal helped establish the Riverside County High School Mock Trial program, served as President of the Riverside County Philharmonic, and remains active on multiple community boards. With a career defined by advocacy, leadership, and commitment to justice, she continues to stand as one of California’s most respected litigators.
