Valerie M. Therrien brings over four decades of legal expertise to clients throughout Alaska. She has built a reputation for integrity and diligent representation as a dedicated sole practitioner. Ms. Therrien earned her Juris Doctor degree in May 1976. Upon graduation, she embraced Justice Cardozo’s call to “answer the people’s cry for justice,” a principle that has guided her throughout her career. In 1992, she formally incorporated her practice, strengthening its foundation and continuing her mission of delivering accessible and principled legal services.

Since 1977, Ms. Therrien has delivered dedicated legal representation in both civil and criminal courts, serving individuals, families, and businesses. Her experience ranges from forming non‑profit organizations and litigating appeals before the Supreme Court to providing strategic counsel to small business owners. Today, she focuses her practice on estate planning, real estate and property law, and family-building legal services such as adoption, offering clients practical, forward‑thinking solutions grounded in decades of legal experience.

Beyond her practice, Ms. Therrien served for over six years on the State of Alaska Advisory Board for Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Her insights into addiction and recovery have enhanced her judicial perspective, especially during bail and sentencing hearings. She has participated in multiple legal retreats and conferences, fostering her commitment to thoughtful, rehabilitative justice.
