Valerie Cramer

Valerie Cramer established Cramer Law PLC in the Des Moines area, where the firm’s work has included tax law, real estate, business and corporate matters, estate planning, and probate. Cramer has assisted individuals, property owners, and business clients with tax planning, document preparation, entity formation, contracts, business purchases and sales, and real estate transactions. Her professional background combines legal and financial training with practical experience as a business owner.

Cramer earned a J.D. and a Master of Taxation from Northern Illinois University. She also received a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of Chicago. Her interdisciplinary education provided a foundation in legal analysis, taxation, financial records, and business operations. This training has supported her work involving entity structures, tax concerns, property matters, and the administration and planning of estates, while helping her evaluate legal and financial issues from several practical perspectives.

Before entering legal practice, Cramer owned and operated a mold and plastic-parts manufacturing facility for 14 years. That experience gave her direct insight into contracts, asset purchases, commercial property, business formation, and operational decision-making. Her legal work has included helping clients select and form business entities, negotiate and prepare agreements, buy or sell businesses, plan for tax issues, address real estate transactions, and navigate wills, trusts, probate proceedings, and estate disputes.

Valerie Cramer was admitted to practice in Iowa in 2003 and has also handled matters involving the United States Tax Court. On March 20, 2026, the Iowa Supreme Court ordered an indefinite suspension of her Iowa law license, with no possibility of reinstatement for at least two years. The court also required her to pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination before seeking reinstatement. This current licensing status is material to any description of her professional services.
