Dillon Malone is of counsel at Smith Law Firm PLC in Altoona, Iowa, advising individuals, businesses, and organizations on several legal matters. Dillon earned a B.A. in Politics from Drake University and a J.D. with Highest Honors from Drake University Law School. During law school, he earned certificates in Business Law and Legislative Practice and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Drake Law Review. In 2017, the Iowa Taxpayers Association awarded him the Linda S. Weindruch Scholarship for accomplishments involving fair business and legal policy.
Dillon was admitted to the Iowa Bar in 2018 and developed experience across public service, private practice, and regulatory work. Earlier roles included internships with the Iowa Finance Authority and Meredith Corporation, plus a clerkship with Carney & Appleby. From 2012 through 2015, he also clerked in the Iowa House of Representatives. His work supports real estate transactions, contract matters, compliance planning, legal writing, and complex civil disputes.
Dillon Malone currently serves as Director of Iowa Title Guaranty while maintaining his counsel role with Smith Law Firm. In that public leadership position, he supports Iowa’s real estate title system and serves as secretary to the Iowa Title Guaranty Board. His professional involvement also includes service on the Iowa Land Title Association’s 2026–2027 Board of Directors. This combined experience strengthens his ability to connect legal strategy, regulatory requirements, and organizational priorities.
