V. Joseph Mueller is a seasoned attorney with over 35 years of experience in employment law and civil defense litigation. He earned his Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law in 1988, following a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University in 1985. Admitted to the Florida Bar in 1989, he began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida, where he gained valuable litigation experience.

Since joining Abbey, Adams, Byelick & Mueller, LLP in 1992, Mr. Mueller has played a vital role in the firm, becoming a partner in 1996. His practice focuses on representing employers, organizations, and insurance companies in various legal matters. He advises clients on employment law issues, including wage and hour disputes, workplace discrimination, retaliation claims, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance, and whistleblower matters. He also assists clients with drafting and reviewing employment contracts, non-compete agreements, and employee handbooks to ensure legal compliance and reduce liability.

In addition to employment law, Mr. Mueller has extensive experience in civil defense litigation. He handles cases involving trucking defense, uninsured motorist claims, industrial accidents, wrongful death, and workers’ compensation. His clients include businesses, government entities, and insurance carriers. He has earned an “AV” Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, demonstrating his commitment to legal excellence.

Mr. Mueller is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar, and the Defense Research Institute. He has also served in leadership roles, such as president of the Pinellas County Trial Lawyers Association in 1996 and the St. Petersburg West Rotary Club from 2010 to 2011.

Throughout his career, Mr. Mueller has shared his expertise as a guest lecturer at St. Petersburg College and as a speaker for industry groups, including human resource professionals and risk managers. His work helps clients navigate complex legal challenges and fosters a better understanding of employment and litigation laws, ensuring fair and effective representation.
