Tyler J. Anderson is a Partner at Hawley Troxell with a practice focused on litigation and mediation at both the trial and appellate levels. He represents clients in complex disputes involving commercial law, banking and finance, construction defect, and employment litigation, with additional experience in lender liability defense, foreclosures, and guaranty enforcement.
Tyler earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2002. While in law school, he clerked for the Honorable Mikel H. Williams, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of Idaho, and completed a summer clerkship with Judge Carl B. Kerrick. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boise State University, which he earned in 1999.
Tyler is admitted to practice in Idaho, the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. His litigation skills have been recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers, including being named Lawyer of the Year for Litigation and Construction in 2017 by Best Lawyers.
Tyler’s service extends beyond client representation. He volunteers with the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA), representing children in need, and has taken on pro bono litigation through both federal and state court programs. He has also successfully represented a prisoner in federal court involving civil rights and Eighth Amendment claims.
Professionally, Tyler is active in the Idaho State Bar Litigation and Appellate Sections, the Federal Bar Association, and the Idaho Association of Defense Counsel. He has co-authored Idaho Construction & Design Law with the American Bar Association, reflecting his deep knowledge of construction litigation and design law.
