Trey Volentine is a Partner at Hanshaw Kennedy Hafen, LLP, where he represents businesses and individuals across a broad range of litigation and corporate legal matters. Since joining the firm in 2018, Trey has developed a strong reputation for handling complex commercial disputes, employment-related conflicts, and strategic business transactions with diligence and precision.
Trey earned his J.D., cum laude, from SMU Dedman School of Law in 2018. He holds a B.B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Sam Houston State University, awarded in 2015.
Trey has managed breach of contract disputes, non-compete and trade secret cases, and non-subscriber defense matters in his litigation practice. He also defends clients in OSHA investigations and proceedings before the Occupational Health and Safety Review Commission. His litigation experience includes trial-level advocacy and appeals before several Texas appellate courts and the Texas Supreme Court.
In the transactional arena, Trey advises clients on business planning and formation, contract negotiation, employment issues, and corporate acquisitions involving both stock and asset purchases. His dual strength in litigation and business law positions him as a trusted advisor for companies navigating both proactive planning and reactive legal challenges.
While in law school, Trey gained judicial experience through internships with the U.S. District Court for both the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He also served as a teaching assistant in legal research and writing and participated in the Child Advocacy Clinic, representing children in the CPS system.
Trey Volentine is licensed to practice in Texas and remains active in the community, including volunteering as a coach for a local high school’s mock trial team. With a versatile legal background and commitment to practical results, Trey provides comprehensive legal counsel to clients across the business and litigation landscape.
