Tom Spiggle

Tom Spiggle is the founder of The Spiggle Law Firm, established in 2009, and an employment attorney serving clients in Virginia and the Washington, D.C., area. His practice focuses on employee rights and workplace disputes, including pregnancy discrimination. He represents individuals dealing with difficult employment circumstances and helps them evaluate their legal options. His work draws on experience in both government prosecution and representation of private-sector clients.

Tom earned a B.S. in Public Health and an M.A. in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina. He later received his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. His studies provide a foundation for analyzing workplace laws, communicating complicated employment issues, and advocating for individuals. He is admitted to practice in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and North Carolina.

Tom began his legal career as a prosecutor in a Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Unit, handling misdemeanor and felony cases. He subsequently worked at a law firm representing corporations, corporate officers, and employees in legal matters. He later built an employment law practice centered on employee rights. He is the author of You’re Pregnant, You’re Fired and has written and spoken extensively about pregnancy discrimination and workplace protections.

Tom Spiggle was selected to Super Lawyers from 2018 through 2025 and has received recognition for his employment advocacy, including a Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 distinction from the American Society of Legal Advocates in 2015. He contributes employment-related commentary and belongs to the National Employment Lawyers Association and Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association. His work combines courtroom experience, public education, and direct representation in employment disputes.
