About
Soyoung Yoon is Counsel at Pierce Atwood with offices in Boston and Portsmouth. She advises employers and educational institutions on employment and education law. Her clients include startups, small businesses, large organizations, independent schools, colleges, universities, for-profit entities, and nonprofit organizations. Her employment practice covers workplace policies, wage and hour compliance, leave, accommodations, hiring, agreements, performance issues, terminations, severance, restrictive covenants, and related federal and state requirements.
Soyoung graduated from Boston College Law School. During law school, she served as a judicial intern at the Massachusetts Appeals Court, assisting judges with legal research and appellate work. Before becoming a lawyer, she worked as an educator for children with autism and developmental disabilities. Her legal training and education experience support a practice that combines employment counseling with an understanding of the operational and regulatory concerns facing schools, colleges, universities, and other educational organizations.
Soyoung advises educational institutions on admissions applications, enrollment agreements, social media policies, medication administration policies, trip compliance, mandated reporting, student records and privacy, Title IX compliance, and religious exemption issues. Before joining Pierce Atwood, she practiced at a small firm focused on employment and education law. Her work helps organizations create policies, review employment documents, manage workforce issues, and respond to legal obligations affecting employees, students, and institutional operations.
Soyoung Yoon is a member of the Boston Bar Association and has written on employment law developments affecting Maine and New Hampshire employers. Her practice emphasizes practical compliance guidance for organizations managing workplace and education-law responsibilities. By advising on employee classification, wage and hour rules, leave, accommodations, hiring documents, restrictive covenants, student privacy, and Title IX matters, she helps employers and educational institutions address legal risk while maintaining workable policies and procedures.
