About
Thomas R. Schultz is the Principal Partner at Schultz & Pogue, LLP and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. With more than three decades of experience, he has established himself as one of Indiana’s leading civil defense attorneys. His practice spans products liability, medical malpractice, employment law, nursing home malpractice, construction law, commercial litigation, governmental liability, and auto and premises liability cases. Recognized for his skill and professionalism, Mr. Schultz has handled more than 65 civil jury trials and numerous bench trials in both state and federal courts.
Mr. Schultz earned his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 1984 and his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 1987. His academic foundation prepared him for a career dedicated to trial advocacy, where he has gone on to argue and present briefs before the Indiana Supreme Court, Indiana Court of Appeals, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Throughout his career, Mr. Schultz has secured defense verdicts in complex, high-stakes litigation. His representative cases include defending manufacturers in product liability actions, physicians in medical malpractice claims, counties in roadway design and signage cases, and corporations in defamation, insurance, and contract disputes. His courtroom successes reflect his ability to analyze complex facts and deliver strong advocacy on behalf of his clients.
In addition to his trial practice, Thomas R. Schultz has served the legal profession in leadership roles. He is a Past President of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana and of the Indiana Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Defense Research Institute. His contributions to the profession have been recognized with awards, including Defense Lawyer of the Year and the Diplomat Award.
