Thomas R. Calcagni is a highly respected trial lawyer with decades of experience guiding corporations, executives, and professionals through complex government investigations and enforcement actions. Drawing on his service as both a federal prosecutor and senior official in the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, he has become widely recognized for his sharp advocacy and strategic insight.
Thomas earned his B.A., cum laude, from Bowdoin College before completing his J.D. at Seton Hall University School of Law, where he served as Editor of the Seton Hall Law Review. His educational foundation prepared him for an accomplished career, blending legal scholarship with the skills necessary to handle sensitive and high-stakes matters at both state and federal levels.
Thomas advises companies, boards, and individuals facing inquiries from agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and various state licensing boards. His practice includes internal investigations, litigation, and regulatory defense across sectors, including healthcare, life sciences, banking, finance, entertainment, aerospace, and technology. He also serves as outside general and compliance counsel, offering practical solutions to protect clients’ interests.
Thomas has received multiple commendations from the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the IRS for excellence in investigative and trial work. He was appointed by the United States Attorney General to the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund, where he determined awards for victims and their families. His leadership within the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office led to initiatives combating prescription drug abuse and outlawing harmful designer drugs.
