Thomas K. Wilka

Thomas K. Wilka is a founding partner of Hagen, Wilka & Archer in Sioux Falls. Thomas focuses on civil, business, and employment litigation and represents companies and individuals in contract and real estate disputes, labor matters, harassment claims, wrongful discharge cases, wage discrimination disputes, and other employment and business issues. He also handles personal injury matters involving alleged negligence or wrongdoing by private or public entities.

Thomas received a B.S. from the University of South Dakota in 1972 and a J.D. from Georgetown University in 1976. His education provided the legal and analytical foundation for a litigation career spanning state and federal courts. That training supports his work with business records, employment relationships, contracts, real estate interests, damages, statutory claims, and other issues that arise in complex civil disputes.

Wilka has appeared in a substantial number of reported cases involving employment law, municipal issues, banking, real estate, contracts, civil rights, administrative matters, and other litigation. His practice includes representation in South Dakota courts and federal courts, including appellate proceedings. This breadth of experience allows him to evaluate disputes from both trial and appellate perspectives and to guide clients through matters with significant legal and factual complexity.

Thomas K. Wilka is admitted in South Dakota and the District of Columbia, as well as several federal courts and the Eighth Circuit. His long-standing practice reflects extensive experience representing businesses and individuals in contested matters. Thomas combines detailed legal analysis with practical litigation judgment, helping clients assess risk, develop strategy, and pursue resolution through negotiation, motion practice, trial, or appeal when necessary.
