About
Thomas Garvie is a co-founder of Rogers & Garvie, LLC in Laramie, Wyoming, where his current work focuses on criminal defense and family law. He represents people facing serious criminal charges and brings substantial courtroom experience to matters that can affect freedom, records, employment, and family life. His practice is shaped by years spent handling criminal cases in Wyoming courts and by a strong preference for direct, prepared courtroom advocacy.
Thomas earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Wyoming and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming College of Law. During law school, he served as a judicial intern to Wyoming Supreme Court Justice Keith G. Kautz, interned with the Albany County Attorney’s Office and Hirst Applegate Law Firm, and worked as a student-attorney in the College of Law’s Defender Aid Clinic.
Garvie began his legal career with the Wyoming Public Defender’s Office, where he represented roughly 200 to 300 people each year who faced serious criminal charges. He handled felony and misdemeanor matters and tried cases to verdict in courts across Wyoming. That experience gave him regular exposure to evidence, charging decisions, negotiations, motions, and trial strategy. His current firm continues to emphasize criminal defense while serving family-law clients as well.
Thomas Garvie brings extensive public defense experience to a small-firm practice built around direct attorney involvement. He approaches clients with compassion while preparing cases with the willingness to litigate when necessary. He also serves on the Wyoming Child & Family Development Board of Directors. His current work reflects a clear concentration on criminal defense and family law, supported by practical trial experience developed through hundreds of Wyoming cases.
