About
Debbie Pakbaz is an attorney at Burke Law whose practice focuses on criminal and juvenile law. She represents people accused of crimes and works to protect their rights and interests throughout the legal process. Her background combines law-school advocacy training with public defense experience, giving her direct familiarity with felony and misdemeanor cases. She joined Burke Law in 2023 and continues to focus her practice on defense work involving Vermont’s criminal and juvenile courts.
Debbie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Johnson State College and a Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School. During law school, she concentrated on criminal law and gained litigation and advocacy experience through several internships. That training prepared her for courtroom-focused work and for the practical demands of representing individuals whose liberty, records, and future opportunities can be affected by criminal charges.
Pakbaz worked after law school for the Orleans and Caledonia County public defender’s office. In that role, she defended clients accused of felony and misdemeanor offenses and gained practical experience with criminal procedure, evidence, client counseling, negotiations, and litigation. Her public defense work now informs her representation at Burke Law, where criminal and juvenile matters remain the central focus of her practice.
Debbie Pakbaz brings defense-side experience to clients facing criminal accusations and juvenile proceedings in Vermont. Her work emphasizes advocacy for the accused and protection of client rights throughout a case. By combining criminal-law training, public defender experience, and current defense practice, she assists clients with understanding charges, preparing for court, evaluating available options, and responding to legal proceedings that can carry serious and lasting consequences.
