Thomas E Brown III

Thomas E. Brown III is the founder of Brown Legal Group, PC, where he has dedicated his practice for more than three decades to estate planning, probate, trusts, real estate, and business law. Known for his comprehensive approach and client-centered service, Thomas assists individuals, families, trustees, and business owners in navigating complex legal and financial issues with clarity and confidence. He holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, reflecting the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards.

Thomas earned his B.B.A. in Accounting, summa cum laude, from Baylor University in 1983 and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law in 1986. His strong academic foundation in both law and accounting allows him to provide sophisticated estate and tax planning strategies, including the use of trusts, business entities, and charitable planning tools to protect and transfer wealth.

Before establishing Brown Legal Group, PC, Thomas was a shareholder at Virtue Najjar & Brown, PC, where he served as lead counsel for the New Mexico Finance Authority’s New Markets Tax Credit program. Earlier in his career, he practiced with the Wiggins Law Firm and began as an associate and shareholder at Sutin Thayer & Browne, PC. While at Sutin, Thomas was part of the legal team representing the Galles-Kraco Indycar Racing Team, which won the 1991 season championship and the 1992 Indianapolis 500.

Thomas E. Brown III continues to serve clients across New Mexico with a focus on estate planning, probate, trust administration, real estate, and small business matters. A former Chair of the State Bar of New Mexico Taxation Section, he is also a member of the American Bar Association and The Group, Inc.
