About

Teresa L. Shulda is a Wichita employment and labor attorney who advises employers on workplace policies, compliance, and disputes. With more than 20 years of experience, she works with businesses ranging from small, closely held companies to large corporations with employees around the world. Teresa helps owners, human resources teams, and in-house counsel assess legal risks before taking employment actions. Her earlier work representing employees gives her another perspective on workplace concerns and potential claims.

Teresa earned a B.A. from the University of Kansas and then a J.D. from the University of Colorado. She was admitted to practice in Colorado in 2002, New Mexico in 2006, and Kansas in 2008. Her admissions also include the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Her education and experience support her work in state and federal employment matters.

Teresa defends employers in discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract, civil rights, and whistleblower retaliation cases. She also advises on leave and accommodation requirements, wage payment rules, collective bargaining agreements, and National Labor Relations Act compliance. Her practice spans courts, agency proceedings, and alternative dispute resolution. In one age discrimination case, she was part of a defense team that secured a jury verdict in less than two hours, bringing a decade of litigation to a close. She has also obtained summary judgments and resolved discrimination charges before the EEOC and the Kansas Human Rights Commission.

Teresa L. Shulda has been recognized by Chambers USA for labor and employment law and by Benchmark Litigation for her work in the field. She co-edits the Midwest Employment Law Letter and regularly speaks to human resources professionals and attorneys about developments in workplace law. She also chairs the human resources committee for Boys and Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas. Through counseling and litigation, she helps employers make informed decisions and address disputes with practical legal guidance.
