Susana Ruiz

Susana Ruiz is a managing attorney at S.L. Pitts PC, where she concentrates her practice on high-conflict family law cases involving complex financial and parenting issues. With a background in both litigation and negotiation, she provides clients with strategic guidance through challenging divorces, custody disputes, and support matters.

Susana earned her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law. During law school, she served as lead law clerk for the Moderate Means Program, handling family, consumer, and housing law cases. She also externed with the Children and Youth Advocacy Clinic, assisting in drafting memoranda to help children secure Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.

Susana has deep experience handling divorces involving closely held businesses, complex property division, spousal maintenance (alimony), and sophisticated compensation packages such as stock options and bonuses. Her strong financial analysis skills and ability to evaluate nuanced legal claims help clients protect their assets and long-term interests throughout the divorce process. She also provides strategic representation in spousal support and child support matters, working to secure fair and sustainable outcomes for her clients.

Fluent in Spanish and licensed in Washington State, Susana is also a skilled litigator with experience in arbitration, motion hearings, and trial proceedings. She began her legal career as a Rule 9 legal extern with King County Public Defense, gaining valuable courtroom experience representing clients in juvenile court appearances.

In addition to her legal practice, Susana Ruiz is an active member of the Washington State Bar Association and the King County Bar Association Family Law Sections. She also serves on the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington board, demonstrating her commitment to professional excellence and community service.
