Susan Leach DeBlasio

Susan Leach DeBlasio is senior counsel at Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C., serving clients in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Her business law practice spans corporate transactions, health care, construction, commercial finance, and real estate. She counsels business owners and senior management on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, governance, and succession planning. Her advice addresses both the terms of transactions and the regulatory or contractual problems that can affect their operations.

Susan earned a B.A. from Wheaton College in 1970, graduating magna cum laude and joining Phi Beta Kappa. She received a J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1979 and later earned an M.B.A. from Providence College in 1986. Her combined legal and business education supports her work on financing structures, acquisitions, health care operations, and complex commercial agreements that require both legal and financial analysis.

Susan advised the owners of a Rhode Island medical practice on its sale to a national private equity firm. The transaction covered affiliated practice, management, and equipment businesses, along with leases and physician employment arrangements. In another matter, she negotiated the conversion of a troubled corporate borrower’s debt into a controlling equity interest for a European creditor. She also negotiates construction agreements and advises health care providers on licensing, contracting, and regulatory compliance.

Susan Leach DeBlasio has received the Rhode Island Bar Association Supreme Court Judge Florence K. Murray Award and other professional honors, including recognition for corporate and health care law. She has written and spoken on legal and ethics issues and has served legal and community groups through educational presentations. Her practice combines corporate planning, transaction negotiation, and regulatory advice to help organizations address important business decisions.
