Susan E. Groff is a principal attorney in the Los Angeles office of Jackson Lewis P.C. and co-leader of the firm’s California Advice and Counsel resource group. With nearly two decades of experience in employment law, Susan provides strategic legal counsel to employers on wage and hour laws, disability and leave management, workplace investigations, litigation avoidance, and termination matters.

A recognized leader in employment law, Susan is mainly known for her expertise in California’s complex disability accommodation and leave requirements. She works closely with employers to ensure compliance with federal and California leave laws while offering practical solutions to navigate these challenges effectively. Additionally, she provides guidance on California’s stringent wage and hour laws, assisting businesses with audits, compensation plan reviews, and policy implementation.

Susan earned her Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in 2003 and her B.A. from George Washington University in 2000, where she graduated summa cum laude. She was admitted to the California Bar in 2003 and is licensed to practice in California’s Northern, Central, and Southern Districts.

Beyond counseling, Susan is a seasoned litigator, having defended employers in cases involving sexual harassment, discrimination (sex, age, race, religion, disability), wrongful termination, and wage and hour disputes, including class actions. She has represented clients at all stages of litigation, from trial to appeals, before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
