Steven M. Pruitt

Steven M. Pruitt is a partner at McDonald Patrick Law Firm whose practice focuses on civil litigation, insurance practice, governmental litigation defense, civil rights defense, governmental and administrative law, and mediation. With more than 30 years of legal experience, he represents government entities, insurance companies, businesses, and individuals in complex litigation and dispute resolution matters. As a certified mediator, he also helps clients resolve legal disputes efficiently through alternative dispute resolution when appropriate.

Steven earned his Bachelor of Arts from Erskine College in 1989 before receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1993. During law school, he was a member of Phi Delta Phi, participated in The John Belton O’Neil Inn of Court, and served as Managing Editor of the South Carolina Law Review from 1992 to 1993, earning the publication’s Editor’s Award for his outstanding contributions.

Steven has devoted his career to litigation involving governmental entities, insurance defense, civil rights claims, and administrative law since being admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1993. He has developed extensive courtroom experience representing clients in complex civil matters while also serving as a certified mediator to help parties reach practical and cost-effective resolutions.

Steven M. Pruitt is an active member of the Greenwood County Bar Association, where he served as President in 2015, and the South Carolina Bar Association. His commitment to the Greenwood community includes service with the Greenwood High School School Improvement Council, First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood, the United Way Allocations Board, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Greenwood Literary Council, and Merrywood Elementary School. Through his legal practice and community involvement, he provides knowledgeable, practical, and client-focused representation across a wide range of civil litigation matters.
