Roy R. Hemphill

Roy R. Hemphill is a partner at McDonald Patrick Baggett Poston & Hemphill, LLP.  His practice focuses on civil litigation, insurance defense, professional negligence defense, workers’ compensation law, foreclosure and debt collections, and governmental and administrative law. With more than 35 years of legal experience, he represents businesses, insurance companies, professionals, and governmental entities throughout South Carolina. His broad litigation background and practical approach enable him to provide effective representation in complex disputes while helping clients navigate regulatory and administrative matters.

Mr. Hemphill graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel in 1987. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1990. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1990. He is a member of the Greenwood County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association. From 1992 to 2000, he served on the Occupational Health and Safety Review Board, gaining valuable experience in workplace safety and administrative law.

Mr. Hemphill has served as a partner with his firm since the mid-1990s. In addition to his litigation practice, he has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community service. He has held leadership roles with the Greenwood Family YMCA, Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, HospiceCare of the Piedmont, Upper Savannah Land Trust, and Greenwood School District 50.
