Matthew Pinckney

Matthew Pinckney is the Founding and Managing Partner of his South Carolina-based law practice, where he focuses on federal and state criminal defense, immigration law, and civil rights matters. With more than 20 years of legal experience, he represents individuals facing complex legal challenges in both state and federal courts. Known for his strategic advocacy and client-focused approach, he provides experienced legal representation in serious criminal cases, immigration matters, and constitutional claims.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with high academic distinction from The Citadel and a Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law. During law school, he participated in the Immigration Law Clinical Program, gaining practical experience in immigration law. He is licensed to practice in South Carolina and Pennsylvania, as well as before the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and multiple US District Courts, allowing him to represent clients in a wide range of state and federal legal matters.

Matthew served as a City Prosecutor and general practice attorney, handling hundreds of criminal cases, conducting numerous jury trials, and arguing appeals before establishing his own law firm in 2009. His distinguished military career includes service as a Defense Counsel with the US Army Trial Defense Service, where he defended service members in courts-martial and administrative proceedings. He also served as a Rule of Law Advisor in Afghanistan and Colombia and as a US Department of Defense legal advisor for US Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), supporting judicial reform, international law initiatives, and counterterrorism prosecutions.

Matthew Pinckney is fluent in Spanish and committed to serving diverse communities throughout South Carolina. He has led outreach initiatives to educate and assist Latin American immigrants with legal issues while ensuring access to justice for underserved populations. His combination of courtroom experience, military service, and international legal work enables him to provide skilled, dedicated, and results-oriented representation for every client.
