About
Steven D. Liddle, founding partner of Liddle Sheets Coulson P.C., has led major environmental and class action litigation for over two decades. His work has earned him recognition from Michigan Lawyers Weekly as one of the “Lawyers of the Year” and inclusion in Crain’s Detroit Business “40 Under 40.”
Steve earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University. He is admitted to practice in the State of Michigan, several U.S. District Courts, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His legal knowledge also extends to academic instruction, as he has served as an adjunct professor at Michigan State University’s Detroit College of Law.
Early in his career, Steve made national headlines by securing a $3.8 million settlement and a $25 million infrastructure fix for Detroit residents who had suffered from decades-long sewage discharge. Since then, he has been relentless in defending homeowners affected by flooding and environmental negligence across Michigan.
In addition to leading dozens of class action lawsuits, Steve was instrumental in the passage of MCL 691.1416 et seq., a landmark Michigan law that allows homeowners to seek compensation for sewage-related property damage. His lobbying efforts and legal advocacy have shaped policy and opened the courts to thousands of victims.
Steven D. Liddle continues to represent clients in complex litigation, combining legal strategy with a deep commitment to justice. His career is defined by tireless advocacy for communities and individuals facing powerful institutions, environmental harms, and systemic legal obstacles. Through litigation and legislative change, he remains a trusted and impactful voice in Michigan law.
