About

Steven B. Ockerman is a Charlotte family law attorney associated with Epperson Law Group PLLC and a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Family Law. His practice includes divorce, separation, child custody, child and spousal support, property division, and military family law. He helps clients address difficult family disputes through negotiation, mediation, collaborative law, or litigation depending on the issues involved.

Steven earned a J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1991 and a B.S. in English from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1983. Before and during his legal career, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, including as a communications officer and judge advocate. His education and military service contribute to a background suited to detailed procedural and family-law questions.

Steven has practiced law for more than 25 years and concentrates on family law. His matters include custody, grandparents’ rights, divorce agreements, business interests in family cases, premarital agreements, enforcement actions, and domestic violence disputes. He has particular experience with military-related family law issues. Steven also uses mediation and collaborative methods when they provide a practical alternative to contested proceedings.

Steven B. Ockerman has been board certified in family law since 2009 and participates in Mecklenburg County bar and collaborative law activities. He volunteers with the Domestic Violence Legal Representation Project and the Council for Children’s Rights. His public service and military legal experience complement a practice devoted to helping parents, spouses, and families protect their interests during major transitions.
