About
Armando R. Horta is Of Counsel with Aretsky Law Group and devotes his private practice to divorce and family law matters. His work includes matrimonial disputes, custody, support, parenting issues, mediation, and other family-law concerns. After a judicial clerkship in Bergen County, he entered private practice in a family law department, later became a partner at another firm, and established Horta Law before joining Aretsky Law Group as Of Counsel.
Horta earned a B.S. in Crime, Law & Justice from The Pennsylvania State University, with a minor in Sociology, and a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law. After law school, he completed a one-year judicial clerkship with the Honorable Bonnie J. Mizdol while she was Presiding Judge of the Family Part in Bergen County. That experience provided direct exposure to family court procedure and decision-making.
Horta has practiced in the private sector on divorce and family law matters since completing his clerkship. He serves as a panelist for the Bergen County Superior Court Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel Program and receives appointments as a Parent Coordinator, Guardian Ad Litem, Mediator, and Court Appointed Attorney in Northern New Jersey counties. These roles add practical experience with settlement, parenting conflicts, child-focused issues, and court-supervised family disputes.
Armando R. Horta is admitted to the New Jersey and New York bars and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and Bergen County Bar Association. He is a former President of the Bergen County Young Lawyers Division. His family law practice draws on judicial clerkship experience, private matrimonial representation, settlement-panel service, mediation, parenting coordination, guardian work, and other court-appointed responsibilities across Northern New Jersey.
