A former Deputy Director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition, he offers unparalleled insight into merger reviews, non-merger investigations, and high-stakes antitrust litigation. Mr. Weissman earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and his B.A. in Economics from Tufts University. His academic foundation in law and economics provides a unique analytical framework for understanding competitive dynamics, market regulation, and merger control. Admitted in the District of Columbia and Maryland, he is also admitted before multiple U.S. Courts of Appeal and District Courts, enabling him to represent clients nationwide.
Before joining Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, Mr. Weissman co-chaired the antitrust practice at a global firm and served as lead counsel in high-profile cases involving major corporations and regulatory agencies. As FTC Deputy Director, he supervised investigations across industries such as pharmaceuticals, digital markets, energy, and consumer goods, and led the agency’s successful challenge to Sysco Corporation’s $3.5 billion merger with U.S. Foods. His experience informs his approach to complex antitrust defense and merger clearance work.
