Stephen D. Heninger is a highly respected trial attorney with more than four decades of experience representing plaintiffs in serious civil litigation. His legal career began after serving as a Brigade Legal Officer in the U.S. Army, where he tried more than 100 Special Courts Martial before ever attending law school. Since then, he has built a national reputation for his courtroom skill, advocacy, and commitment to helping individuals harmed by negligence or misconduct.
Mr. Heninger earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Cumberland School of Law and holds a B.A. from the University of Illinois. He is admitted to practice in Alabama, the U.S. Supreme Court, and multiple federal appellate and district courts. His strong educational background is matched by leadership within the legal community, including serving as President of the Birmingham Bar Association and receiving the Judge Walter P. Gewin Award from the Alabama State Bar.
Over the past 40 years, Mr. Heninger has focused his practice on catastrophic injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, trucking accidents, and civil rights litigation. He has taught trial advocacy for the American Association for Justice at leading law schools nationwide, sharing his extensive experience with the next generation of trial lawyers. His work has earned honors from Super Lawyers, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the Alabama Law Foundation.
