Spencer C. Young

Spencer C. Young is an attorney at Spencer Young Law PC, whose practice focuses on employment, civil rights law, and personal injury law. He represents employees in workplace disputes and individuals and families in serious injury matters. He also counsels businesses on employment compliance and defends them in administrative and court proceedings. Since 2005, his litigation experience has included wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, premises liability, vehicle accidents, wrongful death, contract claims, and civil rights cases.

Spencer earned his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law and his M.B.A. from GGU’s Ageno School of Business. He completed the joint-degree program in three years and graduated with honors in each program. During his studies, he worked with the Environmental Law and Justice Clinic and completed externships with former federal magistrate Maria Elena James and Commissioner Newton J. Lam. He received an Outstanding Student award through the Honors Lawyering Program.

Spencer began gaining employment law experience as a paralegal with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Manhattan. His work involved Fair Labor Standards Act disputes, class actions, discrimination, retaliation, and union negotiations connected with mergers and acquisitions. After law school, he worked with solo practitioners and developed experience in employment, personal injury, civil rights litigation, and trials. His current work includes disability discrimination, retaliation, wage disputes, dog bites, premises liability, wrongful death, and small-business employment matters.

Spencer C. Young has appeared before California state and federal courts and numerous employment-related administrative agencies. His experience includes proceedings before the EEOC, labor agencies, public employment boards, and unemployment appeals authorities. He has served as a panel attorney and resource for the AIDS Legal Referral Panel and has participated in employment and trial lawyer organizations. He regularly speaks on employment law, sexual harassment, business law, and workplace compliance issues.
