Sheila M. Abron is a certified Specialist in Employment and Labor Law by the South Carolina Supreme Court. She advises companies and educational institutions on hiring, discipline, investigations, unemployment, and employment discrimination matters. Her practice also includes wage and hour disputes, reductions in force, workplace investigations, and EEO compliance counseling.
Sheila earned her B.S. in 2005 from the University of South Carolina before pursuing her legal education. She later obtained her J.D. in 2011 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She is admitted to practice in South Carolina and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Sheila leads work focused on Government Contracting, Compliance, and Reporting, advising federal contractors on affirmative action requirements and OFCCP regulations and audits. She regularly defends collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and class actions involving state wage and hour laws. She also provides supervisor training on harassment prevention, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) compliance, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and diversity and inclusion.
Sheila previously worked in store leadership for a Fortune 500 retail company, where she managed employee relations, wage and hour concerns, workers’ compensation matters, and performance management issues. That hands-on experience shapes her practical, business-focused legal guidance. She is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and serves in leadership roles within several professional organizations.
Sheila M. Abron has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America (2021 – 2026) and named a 2019 Silver Compleat Lawyer. Her honors also include the 2019 Leadership in the Law award, the On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers Award from the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, and multiple South Carolina Super Lawyers List – “Rising Star” selections. She was also named to Columbia Business Monthly’s Legal Elite of the Midlands and the Women of Influence list.
